The Intergovernmental Agreement program is a contract between the Cook County Department of Public Health and municipalities within the County, to provide food inspection services to any establishment that has food service on their premises. This includes, but is not limited to, restaurants, daycare centers, hotels, hospitals, grocery stores, nursing homes and gas stations. The Department investigates food borne illnesses, conducts food inspections, consultations, plan reviews and monitors consumer complaints.
The Department also inspects temporary events where food is served. Temporary events are defined as events where food service establishments are operating at a fixed location for a period of time of not more than 14 consecutive days, in conjunction with a single event or celebration.
There are currently 35 municipalities that participate in this program. For complaints in municipalities not listed below, please contact the local governing authority. Any consumer complaints in the following list of municipalities and unincorporated Cook County can be directed to the Environmental Health Services at (708) 492-2035.
