WEAR IT,

DON’T SPREAD IT.

#MaskUp Cook County

Although masking is no longer mandated, it is still recommended for anybody who is at high risk for complications from COVID-19 or is in the presence of someone who is at high risk. During times of high-community spread, it is recommended that everybody wear masks in pubic settings.

Anyone can get COVID-19 – even you. Generally speaking, however, young healthy people in their 20s with strong immune systems tend to fare quite well. The problem is, you can be infected, not know it and spread it to others in your family or community who are at much greater risk of complications, including death.

There are some very simple, yet effective things each of us can do to make a big difference in the fight against COVID-19. One of them is wearing a mask.

When worn properly over the nose and mouth, masks have been proven highly effective in preventing COVID-19 from spreading.

Change starts with you. #MASKUP.

Protect Yourself and Others

There are things we can do to protect ourselves and others from getting COVID-19. Getting vaccinated and boosted, wearing a mask, testing often, watching our distance, washing our hands, and staying home when sick, are all proven strategies for helping to slow the spread of COVID-19 and its variants, like Delta and Omicron.

WATCH YOUR DISTANCE.

#MASKUP and back up. Stay at least 6 feet away from others who do not live in your household, whether outdoors or indoors.

WASH YOUR HANDS.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, if soap and water are not available.

GET VACCINATED.

COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Everyone 6 months and older should get an updated COVID-19 vaccine.

GET TREATED.

Booster shots are recommended for everyone ages 12 and up, especially seniors 65+ years old and people ages 5 years and older who are immunocompromised.

GET TESTED.

Testing can give you information about your risk of spreading COVID-19. Consider using a self-test before joining indoor gatherings with others who are not in your household.
