Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children

CLOCC is a nationally recognized leader for community-based, comprehensive childhood obesity prevention. Founded in 2002, its mission is to confront the childhood obesity epidemic in by promoting healthy and active lifestyles for children throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. CLOCC’s work fosters and facilitates connections between childhood obesity prevention researchers, public health advocates and practitioners, and the children, families, and communities of Chicagoland. CLOCC’s Blueprint for Accelerating Progress in Childhood Prevention in Chicago presents goals and objectives for prevention strategies in six key areas: food and beverage access, physical activity and the built environment, schools, early childhood, business sector and industry practices, and health promotion and public education.

Our Involvement With Healthy Hotspot

CLOCC is leading the effort in suburban Cook County to support small food and beverage retail outlets (corner stores) to transition to healthier merchandize, improve the promotion of healthier items, and build consumer demand for healthier foods and beverages.
