Obesity rates in suburban Cook County are growing. Drinking sugar-loaded beverages like pop, sodas, sports and energy drinks can lead to obesity and other health-related problems like heart disease and diabetes.

Rethink Your Drink is an educational campaign to inform suburban Cook County residents about the health risks associated with drinking sugar-loaded beverages and why it’s better to choose healthier options. This campaign is supported by the Cook County Department of Public Health and was made possible, in part, from funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Sugar-loaded beverages like pop, sports and energy drinks are the single leading source of added sugars in the American diet. Drinking sugar-loaded beverages is linked with an increased risk of chronic disease such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, tooth decay and even certain cancers.
