Founded in October 2019, the mission of It Could Be Your Kid is to provide resources and programming for children, parents, educators, and community shareholders to eradicate bullying, racism, disparities in equity and other negative ideologies/behaviors that result in oppression. It Could Be Your Kid, is a youth centered organization that provides consulting, facilitation of social emotional learning opportunities related to bullying and anti-racism education to students, communities, school administrators and educators.
It Could Be Your Kid provides resources such as books, educational workshops, webinars, online support groups and community gatherings. To date, they have impacted communities all over south suburban Cook County. Their literacy initiative, Sweet Reads, has provided hundreds of free books, opportunities to participate in book clubs, school supplies and PPE to children in Will, Cook, and Kendall County. This work has increased literacy, combatted isolation and feelings of isolation created by COVID-19 quarantining guidelines by providing resources and a safe space to discuss common adolescent feelings, experiences and convene with peers.
