Chicago, Cook County Departments of Public Health Celebrate Lead Abatement Program Partnership with HUD
CHICAGO – Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) gathered with local leaders and area residents Saturday, July 27, to celebrate the success of their lead abatement programs. “We thought it was important to take time out and reflect on the successes of Chicago and Cook County’s lead abatement programs and the impact these programs are having on the health of families,” said Michelle Medeiros, deputy director, Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes, at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Cook County and Village of Maywood Join Forces to Address Substance Use
MAYWOOD, IL – Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) Chief Operating Officer Dr. LaMar Hasbrouck, Village of Maywood Mayor Nathaniel George Booker, and Speaker of the Ilinois House of Representatives Emanuel (Chris) Welch held a press conference at West40 Remote School on Tuesday to announce a series of discussions, trainings and gatherings with residents and other key stakeholders, to address substance use in Maywood and the surrounding communities. Also present as a show of regional support were: Proviso Township Supervisor Mike Corrigan, Oak Park Village President Vicki Scaman, Village of Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson, Village of Elmwood Park Mayor Angelo (Skip) Saviano and Village of Westchester Mayor Greg Hribal.
New Campaign Empowers Youth and Young Adults to “Unfriend” Tobacco and Flavored Vape Products
Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) today launched the “Unfriend Tobacco: Your Lungs, Your Rules” tobacco use prevention and cessation campaign to raise awareness among youth and young adults about the harmful effects of using flavored vape and other tobacco products. The campaign encourages individuals to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Possible Measles Exposures at Evergreen Park Sam’s Club on April 9
Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) officials are alerting anyone who may have visited the Sam’s Club at 9400 S. Western Avenue in Evergreen Park on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, between 10 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. that they may have been exposed to an individual who was contagious with measles.
Cook County Confirms Second Measles Case
Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) officials are reporting the second confirmed case of measles in suburban Cook County this year. The community-acquired case is an unvaccinated adult resident. There is no known link to recent cases associated with a Chicago migrant shelter. As of today, there are 64 confirmed measles cases in Illinois, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Cook County Confirms First Suburban Measles Case Connected to Recent Cases in Chicago
BRIDGEVIEW Mar 29, 2024 – Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) has confirmed the first suburban Cook County measles case this year. The case was identified in a suburban Cook County resident who was exposed during their time in a shelter for new arrivals in Chicago. The resident has recovered and is no longer contagious.
