Cook County Officials Urge Protection Against West Nile Virus This Summer
West Nile virus season is here. Cook County Department of Public Health is launching a new public awareness campaign that encourages residents to take precautions against West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne disease, which, in rare cases, can be deadly. The virus occurs in humans when they are bitten by mosquitoes that contracted the virus by feeding on infected birds.

Dr. Kiran Joshi Appointed Chief Operating Officer for Cook County Department of Public Health
Dr. Kiran Joshi has been named chief operating officer of Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH). In this role, he will be the executive leader of the state-certified public health department serving approximately 2.3 million residents in suburban Cook County.
Public Health Officials Confirm Two Measles Cases in Cook County
The Chicago Department of Public Health and Cook County Department of Public Health have identified two confirmed cases of measles. These are the first two cases in Cook County this year. One case was identified as an adult who is a suburban Cook County resident, and whose vaccination status is unknown. They presented to a local Hospital for medical care on Monday, April 28 and was quickly isolated.

FOREST PARK, IL – Today, on day three of National Public Health Week, Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) announced the launch of an organizational health literacy toolkit, online resource hub, and webinar to help people who work in public health, government, schools, social services, and healthcare make health information and services easier for their clients to find, understand, and use.
