Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

Cook County Department of Public Health provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women through the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program funded by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Free services provided

  • Mammograms
  • Ultrasounds
  • Breast Exams
  • Pelvic/Pap Exams
  • Biopsy
  • MRI
  • Help fast-tracking Medicaid applications for people undergoing breast and/or cervical cancer treatment.

Eligibility requirements

  • Age: Ages 21 to 64 years old. Younger women may be eligible in some cases.
  • Residence: Must reside in Illinois at the time of service.
  • ID: Valid picture ID or current passport, birth certificate or other proof of Illinois residency.
  • Income: Proof of income is needed as part of the enrollment process. It is okay if you’re unemployed. If you are employed, you will be asked to submit two check stubs or a letter of employment, a 1099 showing self-employed status, and/or bank statements.
  • Insurance: Uninsured, underinsured, newly insured, or have a high deductible.
  • Can apply yearly.
