File a Complaint

The Cook County Department of Public Health responds to complaints about food safety; indoor and outdoor nuisances; rodents and pests; water, wells and septic within unincorporated areas of Cook County.

A nuisance can be a person; a thing; or a circumstance that causes an inconvenience or an annoyance to someone or may be injurious to the safety and health of the public. A nuisance can be an act; an object; or a practice that invades or interferes with a person’s rights or interests by being offensive, dangerous, obstructive, or unhealthy.

CCDPH conducts on-site investigations of nuisance complaints throughout unincorporated suburban Cook County to determine if a violation is committed and to assure correction and compliance. For incorporated areas, contact the village or municipality. There are 43 declared nuisances in the Cook County, IL ordinance. Some examples are tall grass and weeds, uncontained garbage, pet waste accumulation and vectors.
