The Suburban Primary Health Care Council developed the Access to Care program in 1988 to deliver a system of primary care for the medically indigent in suburban Cook County.
Access to Care , which enables slow income individuals (at or below 300% of poverty) to receive basic health care services including physician office visits, laboratory and radiology services, as well as prescription drugs. These services are provided on an unlimited basis. Additionally, the program offers up to eight counseling sessions with a clinical psychologist. The Council’s goal is to further impact all suburban Cook County by expanding services and providing a medical home to individuals who are uninsured and not eligible for County Care or those who are insured but have high deductibles to receive basic health care services including physician office visits, laboratory and radiology testing, prescription drugs, and mental health services.
