COOK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH HOSTS “ASK THE DOCTOR” FORUMS TO LINK RESIDENTS AND DOCTORS

Jul 20, 2021 | Press Release

Online Series Runs in Spanish and English – Spanish Language Events This Week, 7/21 and 7/22

Forest Park, IL—Cook County Department of Public Health today announced its latest dates for its “Ask the Doctor” series, a virtual question-and-answer event that allows residents to ask questions about COVID-19 and the vaccines directly with community doctors. CCDPH will host at least seven such events through September, in both English and Spanish.

“We play one role in this important educational series – we connect residents with leading doctors – because we know there is a lot of misinformation, confusion and doubt circulating in the communities and people have legitimate questions,” said Dr. Rachel Rubin, the Co-Lead and Senior Medical Officer for the Cook County Department of Public Health.

July’s “Ask the Doctor” sessions will begin with two Spanish-language sessions:

· July 21st, 7 p.m., Spanish language — Dr. Suzi Lopez and Dr. Marissa Perez to discuss child vaccinations and back-to-school guidance.

· July 22, 6 p.m., Spanish language – Dr. Pamela Vergara-Rodriguez will take all COVID-19 and vaccine question from residents.

· July 28, 7 p.m., English language – Dr. Kerri Lockhart to discuss child vaccinations and back-to-school guidance.

Sessions are also scheduled for Aug. 17 (English), Aug. 18 (Spanish), Sept. 8 (Spanish), and Sept. 15 (English) at 7 p.m. Dates and times are subject to change. The events will be broadcast on the CCDPH Facebook Page and the CCDPH YouTube channel.

“Public health comprises every single resident of Cook County and we want to connect all residents to a resource that can help them make their health decisions,” said Kiran Joshi, the Co-Lead and Senior Medical Officer for the Cook County Department of Public Health. “Whatever we can do to connect people with those resources is the very definition of public health.”
